This forum exists so North American bicycle retailers can discuss their questions about Shimano bicycle products, service procedures and technologies. Shimano employees will answer questions as quickly as possible, but the community is encouraged to weigh in and share their own experiences and expertise.

Rule 1: Have fun. You’re among other like-minded bike fanatics who “get” you.

Rule 2: Be professional: Every member of S-T.E.C. works in the industry. We ask all members to conduct themselves professionally.

Rule 3: Learn, and help others to learn: Please contribute positively when other members have questions.

This is a moderated forum. We ask members to use common-sense netiquette and rules of conduct. Posts may be moved to a more suitable board or deleted at a moderator’s discretion, with or without notice. Users’ words will not be edited or altered as policy. If you have a question about mod actions, private message us to discuss. Moderator actions are peer-reviewed and final.

What is allowed:
• Learning and professional development
• Dissenting opinions: Many, and differing points of view are encouraged.
• Share your experiences with other professionals
• Linking to your photos or videos that are uploaded to sites like Flickr, Twitpic, Instagram, Youtube, Vimeo to help illustrate your discussion. Keep photos and videos on-topic, please.
• On-topic discussion about Shimano components. However, if you want to tell some fun bike stories, or show off some photos of the frame you built in the garage, The Lounge is the board where otherwise off-topic stuff is welcome. Keep it bike-related, please.
• Adult language: S.T.E.C. is open to members 18 years and older. We allow colorful language within the bounds of allowed content, and ask all users to show tolerance of each other’s ways of expression.

What is not allowed:
• Insults, trolling, and flame wars.
• Use of the forum for pitches, promotions, market research, or solicitations.
• Links created for SEO or promotional purposes.
• Nudity or pornography of any kind.
• Politics and religion.
• Personal attacks. You may disagree with the opinions expressed by others (e.g. “my experience is different from yours”). You may not personally attack others (e.g. “you have no idea what you’re talking about”).
• Cross-posting (posting the same topic in multiple forums)
• Off-topic posts: Ask “does my response answer the question?” If not, it’s probably off topic.

Shimano American Corporation reserves the right to update the forum rules at its sole discretion.
